About ITAG
Dear Colleague,
Hello! Welcome to ITAG and to our newly redesigned ITAG website. While our website continues to be updated frequently, we invite you to take a few moments and visit each section. You will gain information on who we are, what we do, and the impact we are making industry-wide.
First, how about a little bit of history?
The Information Technology Action Group of Chester County was formed in 2000, under the leadership of our founder, Karen Borda. Ms. Borda aligned with key individuals from the private, public, and educational sectors to unify the IT industry in Chester County with a focus on workforce development. It was during this first year, that several of ITAG's main initiatives were designed. Although our youth programs continued successfully, ITAG's membership was stymied. In 2006, we re-invented ourselves. The new ITAG brought with it innovative ideas, creative people, dynamic initiatives, and a renewed sense of purpose.
And we grew...
Key to our growth was the funding of our industry partnership and incumbent worker training initiatives via support from the Chester County Economic Development Council (CCEDC); and grant funding from the Chester and Montgomery County Workforce Investment Boards (WIBS), and from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. We expanded into the five county-region of southeastern Pennsylvania, serving Chester, Montgomery, Berks, Bucks, and Philadelphia counties. We changed the "I" in ITAG from Information to Innovative to show our broadening focus. We forged new partnerships with the industry and education; and collaborations with regional workforce investment boards (WIBS), the Pennsylvania CareerLink, the Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center (DVIRC), governmental agencies, and others. We increased and broadened the ITAG Board membership and established training opportunities including quarterly meetings, breakfast briefings, seminars, and aggregate training projects. There has been much transformation. However, we proudly maintain the legacy of the original ITAG organization formed in 2000.
Moreover, we continue to grow...
The ITAG focus continues to be on workforce development – youth and incumbent worker training initiatives. We are driven by the needs of private industry. We encourage you to join us! Please be a part of ITAG's ongoing growth and development. Help us to create and direct ITAG as we set and achieve new goals on behalf of the information and communication services industry.
Please give us your input. We welcome your questions and comments.
Best Regards,
Diana Kimmich and Jim Lauckner, ITAG Co-Chairpersons
ITAG's mission is to create and sustain a regional partnership in Southeastern Pennsylvania that encourages technology companies and companies that use technology to grow their businesses in an increasingly sophisticated global marketplace. This is accomplished by working closely with participating companies, economic development agencies, and education/training partners to leverage workforce and business development resources on behalf of ITAG members.
ITAG is Supported with Grant Funds from Chester and Montgomery County WIBS, DVIRC, and the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.
